Before Hulett Heating and Air Conditioning Company was recognized as one of the best commercial HVAC, industrial, and custom sheet metal fabrication companies in Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas, we operated as a simple fabrication shop. Today, our work takes us across the Midwest to fabricate and install custom HVAC and sheet metal solutions for a variety of commercial industries. Hulett Heating & Air Conditioning Company’s History

1923

R.W. Wright comes to Columbia on the Wabash Cannonball rail line while touring the country looking for sheet metal work, decides to stay in Columbia and started the R.W. Wright Tin Shop.
1926

G.W. Hulett (Bill) went to work for R.W. Tin Shop in the office.
1923–1929

The Tin Shop does well and R.W. invests in other businesses and properties, some in Kansas City, etc.
1929

Stock market crashes and the depression begins.
1932

R.W. is ill and dying. On his deathbed he arranges to sell the R.W. Tin Shop to Bill Hulett, contrary to his wife’s wishes. The price was $500.
1945

Tin Shop moved to 107 South 7th Street in Columbia and renamed Hulett Heating Company. A new 2500 sq ft building with a showroom facing South 7th was built on a 3000 sq ft lot.
1953

The Company added air conditioning to its business and renamed the company Hulett Heating and Air Conditioning Company.
1968

The Company is incorporated and Bill Hulett is named President and Chairman of the Board.
6/15/70

Bill Hulett announced plans for retirement and George William Hulett Jr. joined the Company. Net worth of the Company was $56,460.
10/15/70

The Company was moved from 107 South 7th to 720 West Sexton Road in a 5000 sq ft building.
12/21/81

G.W. (Bill) Hulett Sr. died and stock in the Company passed to George Hulett and Robert Hulett, Bill’s other son. George becomes President and Chairman of the Board, owning 80% of stock in the Company.
1985

The Company was moved to an 8800 sq ft building, 1 acre lot, at 400 Big Bear Blvd. The property was leased from George Hulett.
1986

A plasma cutter was purchased to increase the speed of assembling fittings, etc.
1995

A 2000 sq ft addition was made to the building.
2004

The current Vice President of the Company, Karin Hulett, joined the Company.
2004

The adjoining 1 acre property, 404 Big Bear Blvd, with 8000 sq ft building is purchased by George Hulett and leased to the company.
2014

The current President of the Company, Alan Hulett, joined the Company.
2019

The Company starts employing the use of in-house Building Information Modeling (BIM).
2020

The Company upgrades and purchases a new VICON coil line.
2025

George Hulett remains as CEO of the Company.
2025

A new 9500 sq ft addition is planned for 404 Big Bear Blvd.
